Beyond price — the questions that actually reveal whether a wood pellet supplier can support your business long-term.
Price is the easiest thing to compare between wood pellet suppliers and, on its own, the least useful. A cheaper quote that falls through on delivery or quality costs more than it saves. Here's what's actually worth checking before committing to a supplier relationship.
Can they confirm real company details? A legitimate EU supplier should readily provide registry code, VAT number, and registered address — not just a sales contact. This isn't bureaucratic box-ticking; it's the baseline for any commercial dispute resolution or customs documentation you might need later. See our own details on the About Us page as an example of what should be easy to find.
Do they disclose actual specs, or just a certification logo? As covered in our guide to wood pellet quality, moisture, ash and calorific value tell you more than a certification mark alone. A supplier willing to share batch-specific figures is more trustworthy than one who only points to a logo.
Is their delivery process actually explained, or vague? "We deliver across Europe" means little without specifics — typical transit times, packaging formats, what happens if a delivery date needs to shift. A supplier with a clearly documented delivery process is signaling they've actually done this before, repeatedly.
Can you reach a real person before you've placed an order? Test this before committing — send a quote request or a question through their contact channel and see how quickly and specifically they respond. This is a reasonable proxy for how responsive they'll be once something needs troubleshooting mid-order.
If you're evaluating suppliers right now, we'd rather earn the comparison than skip it — request a quote and judge us against this same checklist.
